IKEA shopping fix

in Living in Europe,Shopping in Stockholm

I think I’ve been having shopping withdrawal. I haven’t been home to the US since Christmas. And that means no Nordstrom’s or Macy’s, no DSW, Banana Republic and Barnes & Noble, and perhaps worst of all, no Target. It all came to a head this past week what with that huge Missoni collection at Target. I was positively itching to try on a few of those groovy dresses, get a scarf or two and maybe even some towels. Unfortunately for me, there’s no Target within a few thousand miles of me here in Stockholm.

Just as I was feeling most sorry for myself at missing out, my friend Sandy offered to share some of her Missoni shopping bounty with me. So when I go back to Cincinnati, I will be the happy owner of a super cool tote bag. Even so, I still had a vague urge to shop.

So when my friend Kathleen asked if I wanted to go with her to IKEA yesterday, I said yes. Because for a little taste of US shopping, IKEA comes close, although it’s got nothing on Target, of course. (Although I did get a very handy and clever closet hanger for holding scarves.) And when I got home, the first thing Robert asked me was, “So, did you get your shopping fix?” What I’m trying to figure out now is how he knew I needed one.
