An in-town escape: spending the day at the spa

On Saturday, Robert and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. So we decided to pamper ourselves with a day at the spa and went to Sturebadet, a bath house that dates back to 1885. It’s a gorgeous place. Apparently, Greta Garbo went there and I have to say, there is something of old -school Hollywood glamour about the spa.

I’d been to Sturebadet before for a ladies night, but Robert had never been. So that made it fun. We each had a 20-minute massage and then we spent the afternoon in swimsuits and robes. We would meet up at the pool and hang out on the poolside lounges and in the cozy aroma room, then periodically separate to go into the sauna and steam rooms that are segregated for women and men. Neither of us has had a massage in years, so we really felt quite decadent. But as we’ve both been so busy lately, perhaps the biggest luxury was that we actually DID NOTHING but hang out, read and chat.

It was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. The perfect way to spend our anniversary.

Who’d ever think that “doing nothing” could be such a luxury? But it is. and now the trick is to do it more often without feeling guilty 😉

Wishing you many more happy years together!

Congratulations on 11 years! That is quite an innings! I love Sturebadet, a perfect place to celebrate. Glad to hear you had such a nice time.

You’ve inspired me. I’ve been planning/thinking about going there for a few years, but never have. I’ve just dropped a note to my friend Sue who is coming with me for some of this trip and said “we must do it”. Also, hope we might catch up for a bite to eat/ a drink. I think you guys would really like each other. I’m arriving next Tuesday (OMG I haven’t packed) and will be in and out of Stockholm until mid-May.

Thanks Lou Lou. We did have a nice time. And it was such a good reminder of how important it is to spend that time together as well.

So great to hear from you James and glad that I could provide some inspiration. I would love to see you again and meet Sue, who I believe I have often read about in your blog? Can’t believe you will be here so soon. Send me an e-mail and let’s make some plans. I’ll look forward to your Melodifestiavalen insights! And in the meantime, safe travels!
